How it works?
Here's What to Do
Get help managing your credit card debt through hardship programs designed to provide financial relief when you need it most.
Constant collection calls can be stressful and overwhelming. The good news is that you have legal rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) that protect you from harassment.
Under the FDCPA, debt collectors cannot:
Send a written request (certified mail with return receipt) telling the collector to stop contacting you. By law, they must honor this request.
Note: This doesn't eliminate your debt, but it stops the calls.
You can request that all communication be in writing. This gives you documentation and time to respond thoughtfully.
Use your phone's call-blocking features or your carrier's spam protection services to block specific numbers.
While this doesn't apply to debt collection on existing debts, it can help with some marketing calls.
While you can legally stop collection calls, the debt still exists. Ignoring it could lead to lawsuits, wage garnishment, or damage to your credit. Consider addressing the underlying debt through hardship programs, settlement, or other relief options.
If you have over $10,000 in unsecured debt, these companies can help you reduce what you owe and get back on track financially.
